This two-day pattern hacking workshop with Nikki Weston Designs is designed for confident beginner to intermediate sewers who want to move beyond following patterns and start modifying and customising garments to suit their own style and fit. Over the course of the two days, you’ll learn how to take an existing sewing pattern and adapt it to create entirely new designs. Through a series of guided demonstrations and practical exercises, Nikki will show you how to manipulate pattern pieces, alter silhouettes, and experiment with construction details to achieve professional results. Participants will explore the fundamentals of pattern adaptation, garment construction and sewing techniques, building on existing sewing skills such as using a sewing machine, cutting fabric from a pattern and assembling garments. By the end of the workshop, you will feel confident reading, adapting and creatively altering sewing patterns, giving you the freedom to personalise your wardrobe and develop your own design ideas. What the workshop will cover During the two days you will learn how to: Understand how commercial sewing patterns are constructed Alter and adapt pattern pieces to create new design variations Lengthen, shorten or reshape garment sections Add or modify design features such as pockets, panels, or closures Adjust patterns for improved fit Prepare and test pattern changes using toiles Cut fabric from modified patterns and begin garment construction Who the workshop is for This workshop is ideal for sewers who: Are comfortable using a sewing machine Have experience following a sewing pattern Want to learn how to customise and hack patterns rather than follow them exactly Are interested in creating unique garments or improving the fit of their clothes What you’ll gain By the end of the workshop you will: Understand the principles of pattern hacking Have a modified pattern ready for future projects Gain practical experience adapting patterns for design and fit Develop the confidence to experiment with your own sewing projects

By paying for your booking you are agreeing to the following terms: Sewing classes, courses, master classes, lessons and workshops terms No refunds or rescheduling: Due to limited enrolment and needing to know numbers in advance to book rooms and prepare materials as well as needing to know whether to go ahead with or to postpone a class, classes are non-refundable; transfers or reschedules are not always available. Please check your diary carefully before you sign up. If a course or class is very undersubscribed it may very occasionally have to be cancelled. The option will be given to transfer the booking to an alternative date or class, or get a refund. Payment is in advance only: I am unable to reserve spaces on courses or in classes without payment. Bring the equipment you need: It is your responsibility to check with me before the end of each class what you need to bring for your next class, email me if you’re not sure. This is so that you can be fully prepared and get the most out of each class.
