A bit about Me .....
Hi, I’m Nikki, and my passion for costume construction goes beyond fabric and thread—it’s about bringing stories to life through design. I graduated with a BA (Hons) in Costume Construction in 2022, where I dove headfirst into the vibrant and diverse world of costume-making. From pattern cutting to tailoring, draping to creative construction, I’ve honed my craft through hands-on projects that celebrate both tradition and innovation.
One highlight of my journey was collaborating with the National Trust on the Eastbury Makers project at Eastbury Manor House in Barking. This experience not only deepened my love for historical costumes but also sharpened my skills in blending heritage techniques with modern artistry.
I’m proficient in traditional making methods, including crafting underpinnings and working with stretch fabrics. My career has also taken me behind the scenes as a dresser for a touring drag performer, adding a dash of glamour and grit to my experience!
Most recently, I’ve been part of the costume department at The Guildhall School of Music & Drama in the heart of London. Here, I’ve worn many hats: managing wardrobes for opera productions, teaching sewing and pattern cutting, supervising students, and assisting freelance professionals on large-scale productions.
Whether it’s designing, teaching, or managing costumes, I’m dedicated to creating pieces that combine technical precision with creative flair.
